THE
GREAT CATHEDRAL TOWN SPEYER
Here I share with
you a number of photos
I took in this marvellous old town of some 50,000 inhabitants in the
Palatinate region of Germany where I lived and studied for
over five years.
Founded in the Roman
colonial days, and one of the most important towns in medieval
Germany with an eventful history, Speyer has got to be one of the quaintest places in
the world.

CASTLE
TRIFELS IN THE PALATINATE
A medieval
castle of
immense historical significance near Speyer, I drove up to this
structure aloft a high hill with two colleagues on an enchantingly foggy
winter morning. We stayed there a couple of hours and were the only
visitors at the time!

HIKING
IN THE PALATINATE WOODS
I rarely miss up on a
chance for a good outing in the countryside. When the hike leads
through the charming Palatinate woods, the temptation becomes simply
too much to resist!

PARTY TIME AT
THE STUDENT HOSTEL IN SPEYER
Organizing
parties is a
highlight of student life. And in an open and comparatively friendly
place like Speyer, student parties can become quite large and lively
events as you
will see in this photo set :=)

OUTING
TO WÜRZBURG
One of Germany's more
prettier and historically important towns, Würzburg in Bavaria State has much to
offer in the way of culture and architecture.

GERMANY's MOST ENCHANTING MEDIEVAL TOWN(ROTHENBURG OB DER
TAUBE)
This has got to be
one of the prettiest places in the entire Republic! If you want to
step back centuries in time and enjoy it thoroughly, then Rothenburg ob der
Taube should rank number one on your destination list.

FORTRESS EHRENBREITSTEIN AND THE DEUTSCHE ECK IN KOBLENZ
A very old town which was
an important urban and strategic centre in its day, and located at the
confluence of two major rivers, Koblenz has some incredible sights
to offer of which I am offering you glimpses of two.

STUDY
VIST TO THE GERMAN FEDERAL CONSTITUTIONAL COURT IN KARLSRUHE
One of Germany's
holiest institutional cows, this Court has passed innumerable
landmark judgements in the course of its eventful history.

THE
GIERSTEINE
On Halloween day,
2002, I had an irresistible urge to visit
an ancient pagan site. Quick research showed me that the Giersteine was the best
place that offered itself in a 200-kilometer radius from Speyer. I'm
sure glad I didn't bump into Halloween wierdo Michael Myers there!

MY RIGOROSUM
The nerve-wrecking climax of my doctoral programme at the German University of
Administrative Sciences Speyer. Here, in May 2004, you see me
sitting in the "Rigorosum" (oral examination) which is a
precondition for the award of the doctoral degree. Some real hard
talk taking place here in front of the academic inquisition!

GERMANY 2006:
PHOTOS
FROM MY SECOND VISIT IN SEPTEMBER
In September 2006 I
travelled for the first time to Germany's Eastern part. It was a
memorable trip. The photos in this section were taken in Berlin,
Dresden, Halle an der Saale, Merseburg, and at the region's largest shopping mall
NovaEventis.
